The City of Grand Blanc established a Downtown Development Authority in February 2006 in order to better serve existing businesses in the City and also to encourage and promote new business. The DDA has planned several improvement and support projects to accomplish this goal.

If you are an existing business owner, or a business owner looking for a new development location, and have questions or require more information about what the DDA can do for you, please contact us.

The DDA meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 P.M. If you are interested in attending, please call City Hall first to confirm the date and time, as scheduling conflicts may sometimes necessitate a change.

BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT

The City of Grand Blanc has created a brownfield program to assist property owners with the environmental cleanup of their properties. The goal of the City is to redevelopment brownfield sites, which are defined as properties that are contaminated, blighted and functionally obsolete.  Regardless of their classification, all brownfield properties face economic impediments to reuse and redevelopment.  The intent of the redevelopment is to stimulate and promote economic and community development.

INCENTIVES

Downtown Development Incentives 

  1. Financial help with the water/sewer connection fees
  2. Commercial Rehabilitation District Property Tax Reduction
  3. Building Facade Assistance
  4. Financial assistance for the acquisition of a Downtown Liquor (by the glass) License
  5. Reduced yard set-back requirements

In addition to the above, the City  received a grant from the Michigan Department of Transportation to construct the Grand Blanc Road Streetscape Project in 2009. (Estimated cost 1.5 million dollars) This project included new brick pavers, new asphalt surface, on-street parking, street trees and street amenities.
